Eden I semi-humanoid robot (YC P26)
Eden I is a semi-humanoid robotic platform developed for industrial material-handling applications, including warehouse picking, packing and sorting. As Founding Mechanical Engineer, I owned its mechanical and electromechanical development, delivering two operational robot iterations and an automated demonstration cell within three months during Y Combinator P26.
- Took the first robot from concept to operation in six weeks, covering mechanical architecture, detailed CAD using Solidworks, component and manufacturing sourcing, in-house fabrication, assembly and system integration.
- Designed the mobile base, telescopic elevator, arm integration, equipment mounting and cosmetic enclosures, applying design for manufacture and assembly throughout.
- Integrated the mechanical structure, actuators and electronic hardware into a coherent operational platform.
- Developed a second robot iteration within approximately one month, improving the base, arms, body panels, elevator enclosure, build quality and overall usability.
- Designed and built a closed-loop conveyor system for Y Combinator Demo Day, enabling the robot to demonstrate continuous autonomous parcel sorting.
- Successfully delivered and demonstrated both robots within the three-month programme, supporting Eden Robotics in raising a $3 million seed round at a $50 million valuation.
