Master's thesis: computational Clauser plot method
This group project aimed to improve the accuracy of wall shear stress (WSS) estimation, which is important in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases. MRI-based flow velocity measurements are typically limited by low accuracy near arterial walls, making reliable WSS estimation difficult. My work focused on developing a computational method to improve the Clauser plot method, which traditionally relies on visual inspection. This involved creating a software application incorporating pre-processing, noise reduction, and optimisation features, using algorithms including Nelder-Mead, Particle Swarm Optimisation, and evolutionary algorithms. Benchmark testing against empirical velocity data demonstrated a significant improvement in WSS prediction accuracy, reducing the error from ±5% to ±2.5%.
