University engineering challange: UAV
As part of a four-person team, I contributed to the preliminary design of a UAV for urban survailance that won the initial stage of the challenge. Following this success, the competing teams were brought together into a 16-person team to develop our design further.
As structures team lead, I planned, managed, and supported the structural analysis, using Abaqus FEA and iterative optimisation to produce a feasible design. I also coordinated the structures work with the wider project team and was solely responsible for producing the detailed CAD model via SolidWorks. The UAV was designed using straightforward fabrication and assembly methods suited to the capabilities of a student team.
